Yr Hen Efail / The Old Forge
The Creative's Cottage

Located in the small village of in Llanbedr-y-Cennin near Tal-y-bont, Conwy, Conwy, is this lovely, traditional Welsh cottage,Yr Hen Efail, or The Old Forge.

Yr Hen Efail (The Old Forge) is a character filled stone building, within an old Blacksmith’s site. It is no coincidence that the Anvil and hammer, is traditionally seen as a symbol of creative force, as the cocooning energy of the place is restorative and inspiring.

Nestled on the slopes of the Carneddau Mountains within the quieter area of Eryri National Park (Snowdonia, the cottage is set in the foothills of an ancient Druidic site, with the sound of a pleasant stream within the wooded, established cottage gardens.

The cottage is a self contained unit, with its own patio and incredible views though a blacksmith made arch , framing the Conwy River in the Valley below.

Situated on the edge of a unique Celtic Rainforest, with lush ferns and dippable waterfalls, the magic of the location goes on and on. It is no wonder the site was used by those with an art.

Blacksmiths altered items from one shape to another. This is what happens when you treat your creative self to a retreat at Yr Hen Efail. You arrive, relax, unwind, let go and start to feel your creativity flow.

Cottage owner Claire lives in the main house and is on hand to advise on the multiple wanders and places to be inspired, within the local area.

Claire can also offer sessions to guide you, or your business, through transformation and change, or run walking sessions to help you connect further to your own intuition.

The stay can be what you wish it to be; from total isolation, to light interaction. Be aware; Claire loves food and will attempt to share this passion with you in some format, from her cottage garden, or local favourite eatery recommendations.

From our happy cottage guests:

5/5
We had a wonderful time at Yr Hen Efail. Inspiration is everywhere, from mossy glades to endless hilly landscapes. Being surrounded by such a wild, varied and beautiful landscape allowed plenty of space to be creative. The cottage is a perfect retreat, like a little burrow allowing us to have a break from the world! I left with my creative battery recharged. Claire is the ideal host; giving us space but there if needed.
